Gabriela da Silva Prates

Gabriela Prates is Biomedical at Universidade Nove de Julho and is currently investigating the vertical transmission of HTLV-1, as a doctoral student at the University of São Paulo, through the tropical diseases and international health program. She holds a master's degree from the University of São Paulo and identified prognostic markers for neurological disease associated with HTLV-1 (2020). Between August 2017 and January 2018 she verified the specific immune response in HIV-1-infected individuals under antiretroviral therapy compared to long-term AIDS nonprogressive patients and elite controllers. From April 2015 to July 2017, she developed a study that related polymorphisms of the IL28B gene and increased risk of mortality among HIV-1 infected patients. Both were Scientific Initiation projects carried out at the Medical Research Laboratory-56 of the Institute of Tropical Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo.

Possui mestrado pela Universidade de São Paulo e identificou marcadores de prognóstico para doença neurológica associados ao HTLV-1 (2020). Entre Agosto de 2017 a Janeiro de 2018 verificou a resposta imune específica em indivíduos infectados pelo HIV-1 sob terapia antirretroviral comparado com pacientes não progressores para AIDS por longo tempo e controladores de elite. No período de Abril de 2015 a Julho de 2017 desenvolveu estudo que relacionou polimorfismos do gene da IL28B e risco aumentado de mortalidade entre pacientes infectados pelo HIV-1. Ambos foram projetos de Iniciação Científica realizados no Laboratório de Investigação Médica-56 do Instituto de Medicina Tropical da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo.
