Alejandro Germán Frank
Professor of the Department of Production and Transport Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Director of the Nucleus of Organizational Engineering/NEO (www.ufrgs.br/neo), Coordinator of the Specialization course in Industry 4.0 and Transformation Digital at UFRGS and Vice-head of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering at UFRGS (CAPES 7).In the academic area, he serves as Editor of the International Journal of Production Economics (JCR IF: 11.251), Regional Editor of the Journal of Knowledge Management (JCR IF: 8.689) and Associate Editor of the Production Journal (ABEPRO). He is also a board member of the European Operations Management Association (EUROMA) and the ASAP Service Management Forum. He also leads the research front in Brazil for the MIT Global Research Network.In the industrial field, he is a technical member of the Brazilian Chamber of Industry 4.0 of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Economy. In addition, he develops applied projects of technological innovation with the public and private sectors.As an education, he holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from UNaM (Argentina), a master's and doctorate in Production Engineering from UFRGS, and a postdoctoral degree (visiting researcher) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in the United States, where he was also an Associate Researcher at the Industrial Performance Center from 2019 to 2022. He was also a visiting researcher at CNPq (sandwich doctorate) at the Department of Management Engineering at Politécnico di Milano, in Italy. He has obtained research awards from associations and publishers such as the IEOM society, POMS, Emerald Publishing, ABEPRO and CLADEA. He was Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Production Engineering at UFRGS from 2019 to 2023, when the course renewed its maximum score at CAPES (CAPES 7). He also coordinated the Graduate Commission in Production Engineering at UFRGS in the period 2015-2018, when the course obtained the highest score from ENADE.His main areas of research and professional practice are: technology and operations management, product development management, and industrial innovation, with an emphasis on topics related to Industry 4.0, Digital Transformation, Servitization, and Business Model Innovation. Its academic metrics are: H Index: 28 (Scopus); FWCI: 8.15 for the last 5 years (SciVal); 80 articles, 32 of them in the top ranking (3-4) of the AJG/CABS and one of them in the top ranking of the Financial Times (Research Policy). Como formação, possui graduação em Engenharia Industrial pela UNaM (Argentina), mestrado e doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela UFRGS, e pós-doutorado (pesquisador visitante) pelo Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), nos Estados Unidos, onde também foi Pesquisador Associado do Industrial Performance Center de 2019 a 2022. Também foi pesquisador visitante do CNPq (doutorado sanduíche) no Departamento de Engenharia de Gestão do Politecnico di Milano, na Itália. Obteve prêmios de pesquisa de associações e editoras tais como IEOM society, POMS, Emerald Publishing, ABEPRO e CLADEA. Possui experiência em gestão, tendo coordenado o Programa de Pós-graduação em Engenharia de Produção da UFRGS (2019 a 2023), quando o curso renovou sua nota máxima na CAPES (CAPES 7), e a comissão de graduação em Engenharia de Produção da UFRGS (2015-2018), quando o curso obteve a nota máxima do ENADE. Suas principais áreas de pesquisas e atuação profissional são: gestão da tecnologia e de operações, e gestão da inovação industrial, com ênfase em temas relacionados à Indústria 4.0, Transformação Digital, Servitização e Inovação de Modelos de Negócios.
