Paulo Cezar Pinto Carvalho

Paulo Carvalho received a degree in Civil Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering (IME) (1975), a master's degree in Mathematics from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) (1980) and a PhD in Operations Research from Cornell University (1984). He was a researcher at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) from 1979 to 2013. Currently, he is a Professor in the School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas. His current reserch interest lies in applying Computational intelligence methods to problems coming from several areas, such as Computer Vision, Educational Evaluation and Sports.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Civil pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1975), mestrado em Matemática pela Associação Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (1980) e doutorado em Operations Research pela Cornell University (1984). Foi pesquisador da Associação Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) de 1979 a 2013. Atualmente, é professor da Escola de Matemática Aplicada da Fundação Getúlio Vargas. Seu interesse atual de pesquisa é a aplicação de métodos de inteligência computacional a problemas de diversas áreas, incluindo Visão Computacional, Avaliação Educacional e Modelagem em Esportes.
