Celso Setsuo Kurashima

Celso S. Kurashima (M?99) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Universidade Federal de Uberlandia (UFU), Brazil, in 1987, and received the M.Sc. degree, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil, in 1999, and 2005, respectively. He is Associate Professor at the Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC), Brazil, since its foundation in 2006. He was with LSI-TEC, Brazil, as research engineer, from 2003 to 2006. During his doctoral studies, he was Visiting Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA. From 1987 to 1999, he was with NEC Brazil, where he worked as development engineer for over ten years. He also was a Research Student at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Titech), Tokyo, Japan. He has worked with PCM circuits and also with low bit-rate speech coding algorithms. His research interests include computer vision, immersive visual communications, telepresence, video technology, and multimedia signal processing. Dr. Kurashima is member of ACM SIGGRAPH since 2001.
possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (1987), mestrado e doutorado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999 e 2005, respectivamente). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal do ABC, Santo André, SP. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Elétrica, Telecomunicações, Processamento Gráfico, e Visão Computacional. Seus interesses de pesquisa incluem visão computacional, comunicações visuais imersivas, telepresença, tecnologias de vídeo, e processamento de sinais multimídia.
