Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Università di Roma la Sapienza in 2009
Master Degree In Pharmacy . Università di Roma La Sapienza in 2006
During my Master degree and Phd course I studied gas phase ion chemistry and ion-surfaces interactions studied by mass spectrometry.
In 2009 I approached studies of drugs dosing and Pharmacokinetics by HPLC MS methods at the National Cancer Institute of Rome Regina Elena(Italy).
In September 2011 I joined the ThoMSon Mass Spectrometry Lab, UNICAMP, led by Prof. Marcos Eberlin.
Here I am ivolved in developing analytical methos based in mass spectrometry for the fast identification of bacteria by MALDI-MS,analysis of lipid profile in embryos and oocytes, separation of isomers by ion mobility, characterization of the chemical profile of biological tissues by ambient mass spectrometry and MALDI imaging. My first training in MALDI-MS was taken actually at Purdue University at Andy W. Tao Lab in 2009, that training allowed me to take the most advantages later when I used the same technique in collaborations that aimed to investigate the lipid profile of embryos, ovocites, uterus as well as follicular liquid and equine semen. During the years of my post doctoral fellowships, in Brazil and Canada, I have enjoyed working in collaborations with biologists, clinicians, microbiologists and veterinarians. My master degree in Pharmacy and my PhD in analytical chemistry applied to the pharmaceutical sciences helped me a lot in communicating and understanding the needs, the aims, and the scientific terms of the various researchers I collaborated with.
Learning ambient mass spectrometry during my internship in 2008 at Aston Labs (Purdue University) allowed me to join, years later, Demian R. Ifa and Arash Zarrine Afsar ? labs in Toronto ( YorkU and UofT) to apply DESI-MS analysis to the the study of microorganisms ? networking and cancer biomarker discovery and cancer margin assessment. Here I had also the opportunity, to routinely confirm the DESI-MS imaging results with high resolution LC/MS-MS (using a nano LC coupled to a Orbitrap mass spectrometer).
Now I am working at the Istituto zooprofilattico sperimentale delle Venezie (Vicenza, Italy) in the experimental chemistry lab. I develop, validate and apply ambient mass spectrometry methods (DART-HRMS) to food safety and food authetication field coupled to machine learning.
I recently visited for a short time the Wageningen food safety research center (The Netherlands) to learn coated blades spary mass spectrometry.
