Jorge Mauricio Herrera Acuna
Mauricio Acuña holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of São Paulo (2017), a PhD in Literature and Latin American Studies from Princeton University (2021) and a Post-Doctorate from the University of Virginia (2022). He is currently a Mellon Faculty Fellow at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Dartmouth College. He has experience in contemporary literatures and cultures of the African diaspora in the Americas, with an emphasis on Brazil. Among his research interests are the poetics, performances and aesthetics of Afro-descendant artists and intellectuals, race relations, festivals and capoeira.
Possui doutorado em Antropologia Social pela Universidade de São Paulo (2017), doutorado em Literatura e Estudos Latino-americanos pela Princeton University (2021) e Pós-Doutorado pela University of Virginia (2022). Atualmente é Mellon Faculty Fellow no Department of Spanish and Portuguese em Dartmouth College. Tem experiência em literaturas e culturas contemporâneas da diáspora africana nas Américas, com ênfase no Brasil. Entre seus interesses de investigação destacam-se as poéticas, performances e estéticas de artistas e intelectuais afrodescendentes, relações raciais, festivais e capoeira.
