Arlene Gonçalves Correa

Arlene G. Corrêa received her Ph.D. from the Federal University of São Carlos (1991) under the supervision of Professor Timothy J. Brocksom, with a sandwich program at University of Grenoble with Professor Andrew E. Greene. Then she completed her postdoctoral trainings with Professor Paul A. Wender (Stanford University, CA, 1997). She is Professor in Department of Chemistry at the University Federal of São Carlos. Her research interest on medicinal chemistry is the synthesis of bioactive natural products and analogs, employing combinatorial technologies and green chemistry, with potential application on the treatment of tropical diseases. Her group has also contributed in chemical ecology with the isolation, identification and synthesis of insect pheromones. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, member of the Brazilian Chemical Society and American Chemical Society and director of the FAPESP/GSK Centre of Excellence for Research in Sustainable Chemistry. Coordinate the project Materials in Sustainable Process and Products of the Embrapii-UFSCar Unit on Advanced Materials.

possui graduação (1982-1985), mestrado (1986-1988) e doutorado em Química (1988-1991), todos pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Fez doutorado-sanduiche na Université Joseph Fourier de Grenoble, França (1988-1990) e pós-doutorado na Stanford University, CA-EUA (1996-1997). Atualmente é professora titular do Departamento de Química (DQ) da Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Foi chefe do DQ (2009-2013) e tem experiência na área de Síntese Orgânica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: síntese de produtos naturais bioativos, química combinatória, química verde e ecologia química. É filiada à Sociedade Brasileira de Química (SBQ) e American Chemical Society (ACS), fellow da Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) e coordenadora do Centre of Excellence for Research in Sustainable Chemistry (CERSusChem). Coordena o Sub-Projeto Materiais em Processos e Produtos Sustentáveis da Unidade Embrapii-UFSCar de Materiais Avançados.
