Diana Gonçalves Vidal

Diana Gonçalves Vidal completed her PhD in History of Education at the University of São Paulo in 1995. After that, she began her academic career at the same University. In 2010 she became Full Professor. She is Senior Editor of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Education; and coordinator of the Project Knowledges and practices in borders: toward a transnational history of education (1810-...) (FAPESP 2018/26699-4). She holds the position of Researcher 1A at CNPq, is leader of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on History of Education (NIEPHE-USP), a member of Theory and History of Education International Research Group, and a researcher at Advanced Studies Instituto (IEA- USP). She serves FAPESP's Evaluation Board for Human and Social Sciences, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the History of Education journal (UK), Encounters in theory and history of education (Canadá), Caderno do Instituto Luso-Brasileiro (Germany), Thesaurus scholae. She served the Executive Committee of ISCHE (2014-2021) and acted as its Treasurer (2018-2021). In the past, she was member of the Editorial Board of ISCHE/ Palgrave Macmillan's Global Histories of Education (and former editor-in-chief from 2016 to 2020); President of Brazilian History of Education Society (2003-2007); President of the Committee for Education at CNPq (National Council for Research), National State Department of Science and Technology, Brazil (2012-2015); vice-dean of Faculty of Education (USP) (2014-2018) and Dean of the Institute of Brazilian Studies (IEB-USP, 2018-2022). She has been awarded scholarships by a variety of organizations and foundations and served as a visiting professor in Paris, Beijin, London and Buenos Aires. Her research interests include the New Education, school culture, school practices, historiography of education, connected and transnational history and digital humanities. Desde 1996, exerce a coordenadoria do Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Estudos e Pesquisas em História da Educação (NIEPHE). É membro do Theory and History of Education International Research Group (Canadá). Atualmente, realiza ano sabático junto ao Instituto de Estudos Avançados - USP (2023-2024). Atuou como diretora do Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros (USP) (2018-2022), tendo sido vice-diretora da Faculdade de Educação da USP (2014-2018). Serviu como membro do Comitê Executivo da ISCHE (International Standing Conference for the History of Education) (2014-2021), atuando como Tesoureira da mesma associação internacional de 2018 a 2021; e como membro do comitê editorial da Global Histories of Education (2016-2022), coleção criada pela ISCHE em colaboração com a Palgrave Macmillan, da qual foi editora-chefe entre 2016 a 2020. Assumiu a coordenação do Comitê de Assessoramento da Educação no CNPq - CA-Ed (2012-2015), tendo atuado como suplente no mesmo Comitê de 2010 a 2012. Foi presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de História da Educação (2003-2007) e vice-coordenadora do GT 02 História da Educação da ANPEd (2001-2003). Possui graduação em História pela Universidade do Vale do Paraíba (1985), mestrado em História pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1990), doutorado em Educação pela Universidade de São Paulo (1995) e pós-doutorado em Educação no INRP-França (2001) e na Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (2007). Defendeu sua livre-docência em História da Educação em 2005. Atuou na Argentina, como professora-convidada da Universidade San Andres (2001), FLACSO-Argentina (2006-2009, 2020-2022) e Universidad Nacional de La Plata (2017); na França, no Institut National de Recherche Pedagogique (2002); na Inglaterra, Visiting Fellow no Institute of Education, University College London (2015); e na China, na Beijing Normal University (2018). Foi consultora internacional do projeto Teacher Education Schools in Portugal: History, Archive, Memory, liderado por Joaquim Pintassilgo (2010-2012). Foi bolsista Jovem Pesquisador FAPESP (1996-2000). Em 2018 recebeu o Auxilio no Programa Directeurs d'Etudes Associés da Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (França). Na biblioteca virtual da FAPESP, contabilizam-se 40 auxílios ou bolsas que lhe foram atribuídos. É membro do Conselho Consultivo dos seguintes periódicos educacionais: Revista Portuguesa de Educação, Revista Brasileira de História da Educação, Cadernos de História da Educação (UFU), Educação e Filosofia, Historia de la Educación Anuario Argentino e Educação em Revista (UFMG) e membro do Conselho Editorial da Coleção Edvcere da Editora Fino Traço (desde 2007). Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em História da Educação, atuando principalmente com os seguintes temas: história transnacional da educação, cultura escolar, escola nova, práticas escolares de leitura e escrita, historiografia e circulação internacional de modelos e práticas pedagógicas.
