Maria Cristina Nonato Costa

Maria Cristina Nonato is Full Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto-USP and coordinator of the Protein Crystallography Laboratory of Ribeirão Preto (LCP-RP) at FCFRP-USP. She is President of the FCFRP Research Commission, President of the Brazilian Association of Crystallography and Co-founder and Coordinator of the division of Structural Biology and Screening of Bioactive Compounds at CRAFT (Center for the Research and Advancement in Fragments and Molecular Targets). in Physics and obtained postgraduate degrees at the Master's and Doctorate level in Applied Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos - University of São Paulo, with an internship in the Doctorate-Sandwich modality at the University of Manchester (England). Developed the Young Researcher Project (FAPESP) at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto-USP and received the award on the International Women's Day of Recognition for the appreciation of the contributions made to the enrichment of the global community by Cornell University (United States). He developed three Post-Doctoral internships: in Protein Crystallography at the Institute of Physics of São Carlos-USP; in Structural Biology and Drug Design Based on Protein Structure at Cornell University (United States) and in Medicinal Chemistry at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard (United States). He has 25 years of experience in the area of ​​Structural Biology, working mainly on the following topics: Determination of structure of proteins by X-ray diffraction (Crystallography), enzymatic kinetics, biophysical and biochemical characterization of proteins and search for ligands by in vitro and in silico as prototypes for the design of drugs for the treatment of infectious diseases.

Maria Cristina Nonato é Professora Titular da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto-USP e coordenadora do Laboratório de Cristalografia de Proteínas de Ribeirão Preto (LCP-RP) da FCFRP-USP. É Presidente da Comissão de Pesquisa da FCFRP, Presidente da Associação Brasileira de Cristalografia e Co-fundadora e Coordenadora da divisão de Biologia Estrutural e Triagem de compostos bioativos do CRAFT ( Center for the Research and Advancement in Fragments and Molecular Targets).Graduou-se em Física e obteve os títulos de pós-graduação em nível de Mestrado e Doutorado em Física Aplicada pelo Instituto de Física de São Carlos - Universidade de São Paulo, com estágio na modalidade Doutorado-Sanduíche na Universidade de Manchester (Inglaterra). Desenvolveu o Projeto Jovem Pesquisador (FAPESP) na Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto-USP e recebeu o prêmio de no Dia Internacional da Mulher de Reconhecimento pela apreciação às contribuições feitas para enriquecimento da comunidade global pela Universidade de Cornell (Estados Unidos). Desenvolveu três estágios de Pós-Doutoramento: em Cristalografia de Proteínas no Instituto de Física de São Carlos-USP; em Biologia Estrutural e Planejamento de Fármacos Baseado em Estrutura de Proteínas na Universidade de Cornell (Estados Unidos) e em Química Medicinal no Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard (Estados Unidos). Tem 25 anos de experiência na área de Biologia Estrutural, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Determinação de estrutura de proteínas por difração de raios-X (Cristalografia), cinética enzimática, caracterização biofísica e bioquímica de proteínas e busca de ligantes por métodos in vitro e in silico como protótipos para o planejamento de fármacos para o tratamento de doenças infecciosas
