José Eli da Veiga

Website: www.zeeli.pro.br - Jose Eli DA VEIGA, 75, is Senior Professor at the University of Sao Paulo's Advanced Studies Institute (IEA/USP). Besides writing articles in national and foreign scientific journals, as well as chapters in collective works, he published 30 books. He is also a columnist at "Valor Econômico" (business newspaper) and "Radio USP". The ideal of Sustainable Development (SD) has been the core of his attention for more than fifty years. It started in the beginning of the 1970s, while working at the Central Station of Rural Economics and Sociology (National Institute of Agronomic Research ? INRA, Paris, France), and while accomplishing his graduated studies: a Master degree with a dissertation on the European Community rural policy and a PhD Thesis on agrarian reforms, both at the University of Paris, Pantheon-Sorbonne. graduation at Agronomia from Ecole Superieure d'Ingenieurs et Techniciens pour l'Agriculture (1973), master's at Economia Agrícola from Université Paris-Sorbonne (1975) and doctorate at Desenvolvimento Economico e Social from Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (1979). Has experience in Economics, acting on the following subjects: desenvolvimento sustentável, sustentabilidade, meio ambiente, desenvolvimento and agricultura.
