I have a solid background in dental public health, oral epidemiology and biostatistics with a proven track record in both teaching and research. I have been working in the academic environment for over a decade, including lecturing at under and graduate levels as well as managerial responsibilities. I have published over a hundred manuscripts in peer-reviewed international journals and developed strong collaborations links with research teams from South and North America, East Asia and Europe. My primary research interests lie in (i) the social determinants of oral health inequalities and the mechanisms underlying the social gradient in oral health, and (ii) the assessment of the burden of oral diseases on individuals and societies for planning and evaluation of oral health interventions. I am also interested in evaluating community-based interventions and the potential links between oral and systemic diseases.
