Paula Roberta Gabbai Armelin

I am a Professor of Linguistics at Federal University of Juiz de Fora since 2015. I received a PhD in Linguistics from the University of São Paulo in 2015, investigating the morphosyntactic structure of diminutive and augmentative in Brazilian Portuguese and its relation to grammatical gender. During my PhD, I was a visiting student at Queen Mary University of London (Sep/2013-Aug/ 2014), where I worked under the supervision of Professor Hagit Borer. I received a Master in Linguistics from the University of São Paulo in 2011, investigating the argument structure of ditransitive sentences. I am the leading researcher of the INTEGRA-UFJF, a research group focused on the theory of grammar in a generative perspective. I am also a member of the NEALP-UFJF, a research group focused on Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition. My research focuses on the description and analysis of morphological, syntactic and morphosyntactic aspects of natural languages within the generative approach to the study of the human language. I am also interested on the relation between Language Theory and Psycholinguistics.

Professora Adjunta no Departamento de Letras da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora desde 2015. Doutora em Letras, na área de concentração Linguística Geral (2011-2015) pela Universidade de São Paulo, com a investigação da estrutura morfossintática de diminutivos e aumentativos no português brasileiro, bem como suas relações formais com gênero gramatical. Durante o doutorado, realizou estágio Sanduíche na Queen Mary University of London (set/2013-ago/2014) sob a supervisão da professora Hagit Borer. Mestre em Letras, na área de concentração Linguística Geral (2009-2011) pela Universidade de São Paulo, investigando a estrutura de argumentos em sentenças bitransitivas. Bacharel em Letras, com habilitação em Português e Francês (2005-2009) também pela Universidade de São Paulo. Desde 2018, coordena o Núcleo de Investigações em Teoria da Gramática (INTEGRA-UFJF) da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, grupo de pesquisa focado no estudo da faculdade de linguagem humana a partir de uma perspectiva gerativista. Também é membro do Núcleo de Estudos em Aquisição da Linguagem e Psicolinguística da Universidade de Juiz de Fora (NEALP-UFJF). Sua pesquisa tem como foco a descrição e análise de aspectos morfológicos, sintáticos e morfossintáticos das línguas naturais, a partir de uma perspectiva formalista de gramática. Tem interesse também nas relações entre Teoria Linguística e Psicolinguística.
