Ecologist interested in the drivers of biome distribution and temporal stability at different scales, as well as their responses to climate change and natural and anthropogenic disturbances. His research focuses on the role of fire and herbivory regimes on the origin, maintenance, functioning and diversity of biomes, and on the evolution of their plant species, with an emphasis on the Cerrado and savannas. He currently works as an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia. His doctoral thesis (UFSCar, Brazil) received an Honorable Mention at the Capes Theses Award 2015 edition, the main national thesis contest, in the field of Biodiversity. He served as a doctoral-sandwich fellow at the Centro de Investigaciones sobre Desertificación (CIDE) at the University of Valencia (Spain). He served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Plant Functional Ecology Laboratory at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Ecólogo interessado nos fatores que regulam a distribuição e a estabilidade temporal dos biomas em diferentes escalas, bem como em suas respostas às mudanças climáticas e aos distúrbios naturais e antrópicos. Sua pesquisa tem como foco o papel dos regimes de incêndio e herbívoria sobre a origem, manutenção, funcionamento e diversidade dos biomas, e na evolução de suas espécies vegetais, com ênfase no Cerrado e nas savanas. Atualmente, atua como professor adjunto na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. Sua tese de doutorado (UFSCar) recebeu prêmio de Menção Honrosa no Prêmio Capes de Teses edição 2015, na área de Biodiversidade. Atuou como bolsista doutorado-sanduíche no Centro de Investigaciones sobre Desertificación da Universidade de Valência (Espanha). Atuou como pesquisador de pós-doutorado no Laboratório de Ecologia Funcional de Plantas da UNICAMP.
