Waldemar Coelho Hachich

Bachelor in Civil Engineering (1972) and Master in Structural Engineering (1978), both from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Ph.D in Geotechnical Engineering (1981) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Currrently full professor at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, editor of Soils and Rocks, member of the council of the Brazilian Association for Soils Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS), and chairman of the Technical Committee on Geo-Engineering Education of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. His areas of interest and expertise in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering include Geotechnical Risk Analysis, Probabilistic Models, Computational Soil Mechanics and Geo-Engineering Education.

Graduou-se em Engenharia Civil (1972) e obteve o mestrado em Engenharia de Estruturas (1978), ambos na Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo. Obteve seu doutorado em Engenharia Geotécnica no Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1981). Atualmente é professor titular da Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo, editor da revista Soils and Rocks, membro do conselho diretor da Associação Brasileira de Mecânica dos Solos e Engenharia Geotécnica e presidente do Comitê Técnico "Geo-Engineering Education" da Associação Internacional de Mecânica dos Solos e Engenharia Geotécnica. Suas áreas de interesse e experiência em Mecânica dos Solos, Fundações incluem Análise de Riscos Geotécnicos, Modelos Probabilistas, Mecânica dos Solos Computacional e Educação em Engenharia Geotécnica.
