Mario Cesar Vidal is Tenure Professor in Ergonomics at COPPE / UFRJ since 2014. He holds a degree in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1976), a master's degree in Production Engineering from the COPPE Institute, also from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1978). He got a PhD in Ergonomie Dans l'Ingenierie from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers, France (1985) advised by Alain Wisner. After that he performed Post doctorate activities at Aramiihs Laboratory at Matra-Marconi Space, France (1996).
In the national scientific field, Prof. Vidal leads the Complex Systems Ergonomics research unit, and is the anchor of the Brazil Resilience Network, which involves four federal universities (UFRJ, UFRN, UFPB and IFRN) and two research centres (IEN-CNEN and CEE / FIOCRUZ). He was the creator and first editor of the Brazilian Journal of Ergonomics (Ação Ergonômica). and the responsible of the implementation project of the Brazilian Ergonomist Certification Committee - SisCEB, recently recognized internationally by the IEA Council. Currently MC Vidal coordinates the CESERG - Ergonomics training for graduates- in the context of a partnership among COPPE/UFRJ Institute and the Management & Accountability Faculty (FACC / UFRJ). In the national associative field, he was founding partner of the Brazilian Association of Production Engineering - ABEPRO and president of its creation session.
In the international scientific level, MC Vidal is IEA Fellow, lifetime advisor to the Latin American Union of Ergonomics - ULAERGO, and is currently Chair of the IEA Award for students and researchers from developing countries. He is also co-chair of the Committee on Professional Standards and Education for the Latin American and Caribbean coverage. He also serves as a referee with the editorial board of several WoS and JCR certified international journals such as Applied Ergonomics.
Ipso facto, MC Vidal has an extensive educational, professional, scientific and expert experience in Production Engineering, focusing on Human Factors and Ergonomics, acting on the following subjects: Ergonomics, Cognition, Work Organization, Complexity and Resilience.He produced seven personnel books and participated and several collective ones in more than 35 book chapters. In terms of qualified production, the 100th publication of a scientific article is approaching, as well as the 2000th citation of these articles, taken as a whole.
As a scholar, MC vidal advised almost 200 students in post graduation issues (M.Sc. and D.Sc. levels).

No campo cientifico nacional, Prof. Vidal lidera a linha de pesquisa Ergonomia de Sistemas Complexos, e é o animador do Brazil Resilience Network, que envolve quatro universidades federais (UFRJ, UFRN, UFPb e Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte) e dois centros de pesquisa (IEN-CNEN e ResiliSUS/FIOCRUZ), No campo educacional é coordenador acadêmico do CESERG - Curso de Especialização Superior em Ergonomia, no contexto de uma parceria com a FACC/UFRJ).
No campo cientifico internacional , M. C. Vidal é membro emérito da International Ergonomics Association (IEA Fellow), Conselheiro vitalício da Unión Latinoamericana de Ergonomía - ULAERGO, e atualmente curador do Premio IEA para estudantes e pesquisadores de países em desenvolvimento e também co-chair do Comitê de Padrões Profissionais e Educação para a área da América Latina e Caribe. Além disso atua como referee junto ao corpo editorial de varias revistas internacionais certificadas pelo WoS e JCR, tais como Applied Ergonomics.
No campo associativo Nacional foi Sócio Fundador da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia de Produção - ABEPRO e presidente de sua sessão de criação. Foi também o criador e primeiro editor da Revista Ação Ergonômica ( Brazilian Journal of Ergonomics) , assim como autor do projeto de implementação do Comitê Brasileiro de Certificação de Ergonomista - SisCEB em que coordenou seus primeiros anos de existencia.do Sistem. Também compõe o corpo científico de eventos nacionais importantes de sua área.
Tem vasta experiência educacional, profissional, científica e pericial na área de Engenharia de Produção, com ênfase em Ergonomia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Ergonomia, Cognição, Organização do trabalho, Complexidade e Resiliência. Escreveu sete livros autorais e participou de obras coletivas com mais de 35 capitulos diferentes. Em termos de produção qualificada se aproximam a 100ª publicação de artigo científico, assim como a 2000ª citação destes artigos, em seu conjunto.
Como professor de pós-graduação, orientou cerca de 200 alunos em Especialização, mestrado e Doutorado.
