Maria Eduarda Santos Monteiro

Possui Bacharelado em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) e Mestrado em Ciências pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biologia Parasitária (PPGBP, IOC - Fiocruz) e realiza seu doutoramento pelo mesma instituiçao e programa de pós graduação. Ao longo de sua iniciação científica e mestrado, atuou com ensaios pré-clínicos in vitro e in silico na busca por novos compostos promissores naturais ou sintéticos e seus alvos terapêuticos para o tratamento da doença de Chagas. Desenvolveu parte de seu projeto de doutorado no Laboratório de Vírus Respiratórios e do Sarampo (LVRS), desta vez trabalhando mais ativamente com a descoberta e o reposicionamento de fármacos para uma rápida resposta no combate ao SARS-CoV-2. Atualmente está vinculada ao Laboratório de Peptídeos e Proteinas (LBPP) para investigar o papel dos anticorpos neutralizantes na COVID-19 e a ocorrencia do efeito ADE durante a resposta imune causada pelo vírus.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and a Master's degree in Sciences from the Postgraduate Program in Parasitic Biology (PPGBP, IOC - Fiocruz) and does her PhD in the same institution and postgraduate program. Throughout her scientific initiation and master's degree, she had worked with in vitro and in silico pre-clinical trials in the search for new promising natural or synthetic compounds and their therapeutic targets for the treatment of Chagas disease. She developed part of her PhD project at the Laboratory of Respiratory Viruses and Measles (LVRS), this time working more actively with the discovery and repositioning of drugs for a rapid response in the fight against SARS-CoV-2. She is currently linked to the Laboratory of Peptides and Proteins (LBPP) to investigate the role of neutralizing antibodies in COVID-19 and the occurrence of the ADE effect during the immune response caused by the virus.
