Mathewos Muke Munaje

I have graduated with a Very Great Distinction result in M.Sc. degree in Rural Development stream from Haramaya University and with B.Sc in Land Resource Management from Mekelle University. Since my graduation, I have been worked for WORLD VISION ETHIOPIA as Senior Food Security and Agricultural Facilitator; for FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY-INTERNATIONAL (FHI) as Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator; for CARE INTERNATIONAL in Ethiopia as Agricultural Marketing Officer; for SASAKAWA GLOBAL 2000-ETHIOPIA, while based in Addis, in BMGF project (phased-out in Sep 2015), as Agro-pastoral Livelihood Program Officer while coordinating implementation of livelihood enhancement activities of resource poor agro-pastoral women and landless youth in Somali, Afar, DireDawa, Harari, Benshangul and Gambella regions. Currently, based in Addis Ababa, working for Canadian NGO-MEDA as Income Generating Activities (IGA) Officer, while implementing Livelihoods and Income Generating Activities promotion under the support of Canadian Government Initiative (DFATD) to address the priorities of poor women and youth in 4 regions (SNNPR, Oromia, Amhara and Tigray). I have been coordinating implementation of activities under value chain integration that the organization follows through - productivity enhancement-post harvesting-market linkage&public private partnership-capacity building Training-and-M&E chains for learning and sharing. I have had an ample working experience in a multi-sectorial development programs with various NGOs (World Vision, FHI, CARE, ILRI/IPMS, SoS Sahel and SG2000) which are implementing the EU, Nippon, WFP, USAID and BMGF -funded project interventions such as livelihoods and agriculture, food security, health, WASH, HIV/ AIDS, education, gender, and community mobilization at multi-cultural environments of in all 9 regions and 2 Administrative cities of Ethiopia, and which created a great learning environment to enhance our cultural, social and economic opportunities and challenges. Moreover, I have conducted my research in the area of assessing the Opportunities and Challenges for Private Sector Development under sponsorship of ILRI which is the International Research and Development NGO thus created an opportunity to capacitate my knowledge and experience to this regard. Moreover, my research thesis was appreciated for fulfilling the quality and standard of both the University & the sponsored organization, ILRI.I have also had an experience of developing a winning proposal for both developmental and research organizations with the presence of little or no external supervision. I have been also produced monitoring and evaluation manual in FHI, manuals on Agricultural Marketing Extension Service and Business Planning and Development in CARE, BMGF project book of success stories in SG2000 and various project reports and Strategic plans to a very high standard quality and requirement of Donor, Head Offices and other partners. I have proven experience in planning, organizing and mainstreaming various Gendered activities for the frontline development workers in areas of crop and livestock productivity enhancement -post harvesting and agro-processing-public-private partnership, HRD- M&E learning and sharing schemes along the value chain approach that the organization SG2000 follows. I have also ample experience in programing gender activities, design of Gender inputs to be integrated into other programs, auditing and budgeting gender activities. I have also capacitated with various trainings on gender such as ?Development of Gender strategy and Addressing Gender Violence? from McGill University and ?Gender and Agriculture? by CIMMYT.I have quite practical capacity in establishing Multi-Stakeholders Platform (MSP) in a consortium led NGO, where CARE is playing a leading role in a consortium including CARE, SNV, SC-UK, REST, CRS and Tuft university.
