Completed her undergraduate studies in Biology in the Federal Univeresity of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1996), a post-graduation course in Entomology in the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (1998) and a Masters in Parasitology also in the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (2002), both with focus on Culicidae (mosquitoes), involving field work on the monitoring of natural populations of mosquitoes vectors of malaria in many areas of Brazil. In 2002 started to work with Molecular Biology, studying genes controlling behaviour in mosquitoes, and completed a PhD on this subject in 2007, in which she was granted an international scholarship (bolsa sanduiche) to develop part of her project in the Imperial College in London, England, working with molecular biology of mosquitoes in the group of Prof. Andrea Crisanti, also interacting with the group of Prof. Fotis Kafatos. After her PhD, she did her first Post-doctorate in London from 2007 to 2011 in the group of Prof. Ralf Stanewsky, Queen Marry University of London, working on molecular biology of the biological clock in Drosophila. The second Post-Doctorate she did from 2011 to 2013 in The Garvan Medical Institute, Sydney, Australia, working on the genetics of neuro-degenerative diseases using Drosophila as experimental model. In 2014 she returned to Rio de Janeiro where she now joined the group of Prof. Mauro Rebelo in the BIOMA laboratory at the department of Biophysics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1996), especialização em Entomologia pelo Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (1998) e mestrado em Biologia Parasitária pelo Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (2002), com ênfase em Ecologia de Culicídeos, tendo desenvolvido trabalhos de campo de monitoramento de populações de mosquitos vetores de malária. A partir de 2002 passou a atuar na área de Biologia Molecular, estudando genes que controlam o comportamento em mosquitos, tendo defendido tese de Doutorado sobre este assunto (8/3/2007). Em 2005 realizou parte de seu doutorado (bolsa sanduíche) no Imperial College em Londres, trabalhando com biologia molecular de mosquitos com o grupo do Prof. Andrea Crisanti, e interagindo também com o grupo do Prof. Fotis Kafatos. Em 2007, depois do doutorado iniciou Pós-doutorado em Londres no laboratório do Prof. Ralf Stanewsky, Queen Mary University of London, Inglaterra, desenvolvendo pesquisa sobre relógio biológico em Drosophilas. O segundo pós-doutorado foi realizado no Garvan Medical Institute, Sydney, Australia, de 2011 a 2013, realizando pesquisa sobre genética de doenças neuro-degenerativas, usando Drosophila como modelo experimental. Em 2014 retornou ao Rio de Janeiro onde agora trabalha junto ao grupo do Prof. Mauro Rebelo no laboratório BIOMA, no departamento de Biofísica da UFRJ.
