Possui graduação em Engenharia Florestal - Universidad Nacional de Santiago Del Estero (1989), mestrado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1998) e doutorado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (2006).
