Rangel Leal Silva

He holds a master's degree (2013) and a doctorate (2017) in Pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto FMRP-USP. He is a reviewer for international journals such as Mediators of Inflammation, IUBMB Life, British Journal of Pharmacology and CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics. Trained at UdS-Germany, (Lab. Prof. Frank Kirchhoff) in multiphoton microscopy for in vivo imaging of astrocytes, and at UNITO-Italy, (Lab. Prof. Emilio Hirsch) where he participated in the development of a new pharmacological strategy of inhibition of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) for the treatment of respiratory diseases. From 2019 to 2021, he received the CAPES-Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grant to research the role of intracellular calcium transients in astrocytes in neurological disorders at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Heidelberg working on topics related to calcium transients in astrocytes and pain.

Possui mestrado (2013) e doutorado (2017) em Farmacologia pela Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto FMRP-USP. É revisor de periódicos de circulação internacional como Mediators of Inflammation, IUBMB Life, British Journal of Pharmacology e CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics. Realizou treinamento na UdS-Alemanha, (Lab. Prof. Frank Kirchhoff) em microscopia multifotônica para obtenção de imagem de astrócitos in vivo, e na UNITO-Itália, (Lab. Prof. Emilio Hirsch) onde participou do desenvolvimento de uma nova estratégia farmacológica de inibição da fosfoinositídeo 3-quinase (PI3K) para o tratamento de doenças respiratórias. De 2019 a 2021 recebeu a bolsa CAPES-Alexander von Humboldt Foundation para pesquisar o papel do de transientes de cálcio intracelular em astrócitos em disordens nurológicas na Universidade de Heidelberg- Alemanha. Atulmente é posdoutor na Universidade de Heidelberg atuando em temas relacionados a transientes de cálcio em astrócitos e dor.
