Prof. Dr. Fortunato Silva de Menezes

He has a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1986), a Master's degree in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physical Research (1991) and a PhD in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physical Research (1999). He completed postdoctoral fellowship at the UCLA Department of Statistics / Center for Cognition, Vision and Learning, Los Angeles in 2006 for 3 months. He completed postdoctoral fellowship for 12 months at the Courant Institute / Department of Computer Science in Image and Learning. He is currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Lavras. He has experience in Physics, with emphasis in Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics, working mainly in the following subjects: Magnetic and Nanomagnetic Systems, Reliability Analysis, Fine Films, Monte Carlo Simulation, Optimization and Computational View with emphasis on Stereo Vision and Image Analysis .

Possui Graduação (Bacharelado) em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1986), Mestrado em Física pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (1991) e Doutorado em Física pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (1999). Realizou Estagio de PosDoutorado no Department of Statistics/Center for Cognition, Vision and Learning UCLA, Los Angeles em 2006 por 3 meses. Realizou Estagio de PosDoutorado por 12 meses no Courant Institute/Department of Computer Science in Image and Learning. Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Lavras. Tem experiência na área de Física, com ênfase em Física Estatística e Termodinâmica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Sistemas Magnéticos e nanomagneticos, Analise de Confiabilidade, Filmes finos, Simulacao Monte Carlo, Otimizacao, Machine Learning e Analise de Imagens.
