Currently, Adriano holds a position as a postdoctoral fellow (PDF) in the Division of Medical Sciences, University of Victoria, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Marie-Ève Tremblay. Adriano's main research interests are focused on microglia, and how these intriguing cells contribute to the pathophysiology of mood disorders, also how to modulate these cells through multiple (pharma- and non-pharmacological) strategies to reach more effective and safer therapeutic outcomes for these conditions. Adriano has robust experience in Biological psychiatry and Neuropsychopharmacology and a strong technical background in multiple approaches, including animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders, mouse behavioral evaluation, molecular biology, light and fluorescence microscopy, and (in vitro) cell-culture assays. Adriano is also a strong advocate for policies and practical actions to build a more inclusive and diverse environment in science for equity-deserving groups, especially those who face discrimination based on gender and sex. Adriano has a deep commitment to research excellence, curiosity, and Equity-Diversity-Inclusion (EDI) advances. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, which have been cited more than 980 times, h-index of 18 (Google Scholar).
