Marcelo Vidigal Caliari

Professor Marcelo Vidigal Caliari holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), a Master's degree in Pathology and a PhD in Cellular Biology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is a Full Professor at the Department of General Pathology, accredited Professor at the Graduate Program in Pathology and at the Professional Master's Degree in Teaching Biology (ProfBio) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He was Head of the Department of General Pathology for two successive terms, researcher at the National Council for Research and Development (CNPq) between 2011 and 2022, and member of the Ethics Committee in Animal Experimentation at UFMG. He is an ad hoc consultant for CNPq and CAPES and acts as a manuscript reviewer in international scientific journals, such as Parasite and Vectors, Parasite Immunology, The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Parasitology International, Case Reports in Infectious Diseases, among others. He specializes in Digital Morphometry, collaborating in projects in several areas and has experience in the study of the pathogenesis of inflammation, especially in parasitic processes. He is also a specialist in Pathology of the use of harmful substances, coordinating an extension project with the Museum of Morphological Sciences at UFMG and providing guidance in this area.

Professor Marcelo Vidigal Caliari é graduado em Farmácia pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP), mestre em Patologia e doutor em Biologia Celular pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. É Professor Titular do Departamento de Patologia Geral, Professor credenciado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Patologia e do Mestrado Profissional em Ensino de Biologia (ProfBio) da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Foi Chefe do Departamento de Patologia Geral por duas gestões sucessivas, pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (CNPq) entre 2011 e 2022 e, membro do Comitê de Ética em Experimentação Animal da UFMG. É consultor ad hoc do CNPq e CAPES e atua como revisor de manuscritos em revistas científicas internacionais, tais como Parasite and Vectors, Parasite Immunology, The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Parasitology International, Case Reports in Infectious Diseases, dentre outras. É especialista em Morfometria Digital, colaborando em projetos de diversas áreas e tem experiência no estudo da patogênese da inflamação, especialmente em processos parasitários. Também é especialista em Patologia do uso de substâncias nocivas, coordenando projeto de extensão junto ao Museu de Ciências Morfológicas da UFMG e orientando nesta área.
