Andrei Carvalho Sposito

Professor Sposito graduou-se em Medicina pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1992), fez Residência em Medicina Interna e em Cardiologia (1993-1996) e Doutorado em Medicina (1996-1999) na Faculdade de Medicina da USP, São Paulo. Fez Pós-doutorado (2000-2003) na Universidade de Paris-Sorbonne, Paris, França com período intersticial no Laboratório de Biologia Celular do Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pensilvania, EUA. Fez Livre Docência em Cardiologia na Faculdade de Medicina da USP São Paulo (2008). Foi Editor da Diretriz Brasileira para Prevenção da Aterosclerose (2007), Presidente do Departamento de Aterosclerose (2008-2009) e Diretor Científico da Regional Centro-Oeste (2010-2011) da Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia. Foi Diretor de Pesquisa (2012-2013) e Diretor das Regionais (2022-2023) da Sociedade de Cardiologia do Estado de São Paulo. Atualmente é Professor Titular (MS-6) da Disciplina de Cardiologia da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da UNICAMP. Atua como membro de Advisory Board dos periódicos EbioMedicine (Lancet), Atherosclerosis, Journal of Geriatric Cardiology e atuou como Editor de Seção do BBA Clinical. Entre suas publicações estão capítulos no Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine e Braunwald's Heart Disease e publicações em periódicos de referência em Medicina Interna e Cardiologia.

Professor Sposito holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia (1992) and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP) (1993-1996). He obtained his Doctorate in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of USP, São Paulo (1996-1999) and he pursued postdoctoral studies at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, Paris, France (2000-2003), with a research stint at the Children's Cell Biology Laboratory at the Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. In 2008, he was awarded Professor Habilitation in Cardiology at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. He held various prestigious positions in the field of cardiology, including Editor of the Brazilian Guideline for the Prevention of Atherosclerosis (2007), President of the Department of Atherosclerosis (2008-2009), and Scientific Director of the Midwest Regional (2010-2011) of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology. Furthermore, he served as Director of Research (2012-2013) and Director of the Regionals (2022-2023) for the São Paulo State Cardiology Society. Prof. Sposito holds the position of full professor (MS-6) in the Cardiology discipline at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Unicamp. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Board for prestigious journals such as Ebiomedicine (Lancet), atherosclerosis, and the Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. Additionally, he has acted as a section editor for the BBA Clinical section. Dr. Sposito has made significant contributions to the field of cardiology, including authoring chapters in renowned medical textbooks such as Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine and Braunwald's Heart Disease. Moreover, his research has been published in leading journals specializing in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
