Newton Rocha Filho

Doutor em Poéticas Visuais pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2022, Bolsa CAPES, orientação de Hélio Fervenza), Mestre em Linguagens Visuais pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004, Bolsa CAPES, Orientação de Glória Ferreira), Especialista em História da Arte do Século XX pela Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná (2000, Orientação de Maria José Justino), graduado no Curso Superior de Pintura pela Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná (1994). Tem experiência na área de Artes, com ênfase em Arte experimental, contextual, relacional, socioambiental, circuitos autônomos, ativismo, espaço público, cartografia participativa. Atua como artista, pesquisador, curador e produtor. Desde 2001 é coordenador da EPA! Expansão Pública do Artista, entidade autônoma dedicada à reflexão histórica e crítica sobre os circuitos artísticos, à produção artística e ao estabelecimento de redes de trabalho colaborativo, com ênfase na interface entre arte e sociedade. Idealizador, curador e coordenador do acervo compartilhado Circuitos compartilhados - maior acervo em filme e vídeo sobre circuitos autônomos de artes visuais empreendidos no Brasil - e de projetos a ele vinculados, como CCTV (Circuitos compartilhados TV) exibido no canal da UFPRTV no segundo semestre de 2018 e janeiro de 2019, Livre-troca (Centro-Oeste e Nordeste do Brasil, 2016-2017), Rotação de culturas (Norte e Sul do Brasil, 2014) e Vide o vídeo (Curitiba, 2002). Realizador também do projeto de intervenção urbana Galerias subterrâneas (Curitiba, 2008). Membro fundador do coletivo de artistas E/Ou (2005-2013), realizador da série de trabalhos Descartógrafos. De 2005 a 2009 e de 2010 a 2012 foi membro do Colegiado Setorial de Artes Visuais, entidade de representação da sociedade civil vinculada ao Conselho Nacional de Política Cultural, órgão consultivo do Ministério da Cultura para a formulação de políticas públicas para o setor.

Expansão Pública do Artista, an autonomous entity dedicated to historical and critical reflection on the artistic circuits, artistic production and the establishment of collaborative networks, with an emphasis on the interface between art and society. Creator, curator and coordinator of the shared collection Circuitos compartilhados - the largest film and video collection on autonomous visual arts circuits undertaken in Brazil - and related projects, such as CCTV (Circuitos compartilhados TV) aired on the UFPRTV channel in the second half of 2018 and January 2019, Livre-troca (Midwest and Northeast Brazil, 2016-2017), Rotação de culturas (North and South Brazil, 2014) and Vide o video (Curitiba, 2002).
