I hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine obtained at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM, Brazil, 1990), a Master's degree in Veterinary Microbiology at Iowa State University (ISU - USA, 1993) and a Ph.D. degree in Veterinary Microbiology also obtained at Iowa State University (ISU ? USA, 1996). From 1997 to 1998 I worked as a CNPq fellowship at UFSM, Brazil, with bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). From 1998 to present time I'm working as a full time Professor of immunology, microbiology and infectious diseases at the Universidade de Passo Fundo. I'm a professor of microbiology, immunology and infectious diseases for undergraduate students, and professor of Celular and Molecular Immunology, and Viruses and Viral Diseases for graduate students. I'm in charge of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for Equine Infecctious Anemia and Glander's Disease at UPF. Associate-Editor of Pesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, Visiting Professor at the Wageningen University - The Netherlands. Since 2016 I am a Fellow Researcher from CNPq Level 2.
Possui graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM, 1990), mestrado em Microbiologia Veterinária - Iowa State University of Science and Technology (USA, 1993) e doutorado em Microbiologia Veterinária - Iowa State University of Science and Technology (USA, 1996), ambos com ênfase em Virologia Molecular e Imunologia. Pós-doutorado em imunologia - Wageningen University (Holanda, 2013 - 2014). Professor Titular da Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF) nas disciplinas de Imunologia, Microbiologia, e Doenças Infecto Contagiosas (Graduação), e Imunologia Celular e Molecular, Virologia e Doenças Víricas (Pós-Graduação). Desenvolve projetos de pesquisa relacionadas ao estudo do sistema imune inato e adquirido (peixes, suínos), desenvolvimento de vacinas e adjuvantes (peixes e suínos), detecção de patógenos virais em alimentos de origem animal. Reponsável Técnico pelo Laboratório de Diagnostico Veterinário para Anemia Infecciosa Equina e Mormo Equino. Editor Associado - Pesquisa Veterinária Brasileira. Professor Visitante - Wageningen University, Holanda. Bolsista Produtividade em Pesquisa - CNPq Nível 2.
