Karin Kirchgatter

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Santo Amaro (1990), Master of Science (Biology of the Pathogen-Host Relationship) from the University of São Paulo (1997), PhD in Science (Biology of the Pathogen-Host Relationship) from the University of São Paulo (2002) and post-doctorate in Genetics from UNESP (2006). She is currently advisor and member of the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Tropical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo and Scientific Researcher VI at the Pasteur Institute. She is a member of the Permanent Commission of the Full-Time Regime (CPRTI), responsible for the area of Animal Pathology and Parasitology. She has experience in Public Health, with emphasis on Malaria, working mainly on the following topics: Plasmodium malariae, diagnosis, molecular markers, population genetics, avian malaria, DNA barcoding and Culicidae vectors of endemic diseases.

Atualmente é orientador e membro da Comissão Coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina Tropical da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo e Pesquisador Científico VI no Instituto Pasteur. É membro da Comissão Permanente do Regime de Tempo Integral (CPRTI), responsável pela área de Patologia e Parasitologia Animal. Tem experiência na área de Saúde Coletiva, com ênfase em Malária, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Plasmodium malariae, diagnóstico, marcadores moleculares, genética de populações, malária aviária, DNA barcoding e culicídeos vetores de endemias.
