Atualmente, é professora adjunta do departamento de Microbiologia da UFMG. Iniciou a sua carreira científica por meio do Programa piloto de Vocação Científica (1998 a 2001) no Instituto René Rachou da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (IRR/FIOCRUZ-Minas) ainda no ensino médio no COLTEC-UFMG. Graduou-se em Farmácia (2006) e habilitou-se em Bioquímica-Análises Clínicas (2007) pela Faculdade de Farmácia da UFMG. Realizou Mestrado acadêmico (2008) e Doutorado (2010) no Departamento de Microbiologia (sub-área Virologia) da UFMG. Atuou como Post Doctoral Researcher no Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC), afiliado a Rockefeller University de 2011 a 2013 (Nova York, EUA) e realizou pós-doutorado (2013-2018) no IRR/FIOCRUZ-Minas com financiamento do Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado (PNPD/CAPES). Atua como Pesquisadora colaboradora com grupos de pesquisa de instituições nacionais e internacionais como Columbia University (NY, USA) e Peter Doherty Institute (Melbourne, Austrália). Recebeu vários prêmios como o Early Career Investigator award do AASLD, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Award pelo MIT e prêmio destaque no Keystone Symposia. É membro da Academia Brasileira de Jovens Cientistas (ABJC). Membro do CT Terapias Avançadas e Inovadoras. Membro do INCT-POXVIRUS (2022). Atua como membro da iniciativa internacional HTLV Taskforce da Global Virus Network e representa o Brasil como membro do COVID-19 International Research Team (COV-IRT). Principais áreas de atuação em pesquisa: Biomarcadores de doença e vacinação com ênfase em virologia humana e desenvolvimento de antivirais. Por fim, é mãe de uma linda menina que me inspira a cada dia ser uma cientista melhor.
She is currently professor in the Department of Microbiology at UFMG. Dr. Reis began her scientific career through the Scientific Vocation Pilot Program (1998 to 2001) at the René Rachou Institute of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (IRR/FIOCRUZ-Minas) while still in high school at COLTEC-UFMG. Graduated in Pharmacy (2006) and qualified in Biochemistry-Clinical Analysis (2007) by the Faculty of Pharmacy at UFMG. Academic Masters (2008) and Doctorate (2010) at the Department of Microbiology (Sub-area Virology) at UFMG. She acted as Post Doctoral Researcher at Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC), affiliated with Rockefeller University from 2011 to 2013 (New York, USA) and held a postdoctoral degree (2013-2018) at IRR/FIOCRUZ-Minas with funding from the National Program Post-Doctorate (PNPD/CAPES). She works as a Collaborator Researcher with research groups from national and international institutions such as Columbia University (NY, USA) and Peter Doherty Institute (Melbourne, Australia). She has received several awards such as the Early Career Investigator award from AASLD, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Award from MIT, and a featured award at the Keystone Symposia. Represents Brazil as a member of the international initiative HTLV Taskforce of the Global Virus Network. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Young Scientists (ABJC). Member of CT Terapias Avançadas e Inovadoras and INCT-POXVIRUS (2022). Member of HTLV Taskforce da Global Virus Network and member of COVID-19 International Research Team (COV-IRT). Main areas of research: Disease biomarkers and vaccination with an emphasis on human virology and antiviral development. Finally, she is the mother of a beautiful girl who inspires her every day to be a better scientist.
