Jonathan David Sapsed

Dr. Jonathan Sapsed is Principal Research Fellow at CENTRIM (Centre for Research in Innovation Management) in University of Brighton's Business School. He has researched creativity and innovation in digital creative firms in Silicon Valley in the US, UK video games developers, as well as companies such as Sun Microsystems, Ericsson, and QinetiQ. His research is published in journals such as Research Policy and Organization Studies and he is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of the Creative Industries. Dr. Sapsed is Academic Director of the Brighton Fuse project (www.brightonfuse.com), a 940K grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council to map, measure and enhance a significant digital creative cluster. An entrepreneurial researcher, lecturer and practitioner of innovation management and policy, specialising in the digital creative industries, for 14 years he has raised research funds from a range of sponsors including ESRC, EPSRC, AHRC, and the European Commission, totalling 4m, since his doctorate at SPRU, University of Sussex. Dr. Sapsed has worked as an Innovation Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM), a Visiting Fellow at Imperial College London and at UC Berkeley. He is a member of the ESRC Peer Review College and an External Examiner for the London School of Economics, and Sothebys Institute of Art. Dr. Sapsed has advised large and small firms and the UK government. He is also an Editorial Board member for Journal of Management, International Journal of Innovation Management and Technovation; and a Referee for numerous journals, including Research Policy, Organization Science, Organization Studies, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Management Studies, British Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior.
