Verônica Toste Daflon

Verônica is an assistant professor at the Department of Sociology and Methodology in Social Sciences at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and of the Graduate Program in Sociology (PPGS) at the same institution. She is a Young Scientist of Our State (FAPERJ) scholarship holder. Holds a PhD and Master in Sociology from the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-Uerj) was a postdoctoral fellow at the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology (PPGSA, IFCS-UFRJ) and visiting researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Princeton (IAS). She coordinates LabGen - Laboratory of Gender and Intersectionality Studies (UFF), is an associate researcher at the Global Race Project, at the Agence National de la Recherche and member of the Heterodox Academy, an institution committed to viewpoint diversity, freedom of expression and constructive disagreement in research and education. She has published articles, books, and book chapters on gender and social theory, feminism and social movements, race relations, organizational inequalities, and affirmative action politics, working from the perspective of relational sociology. She is co-author of the books "Classics of Social Thought: Women and feminisms in the 19th century" and "Pioneers of Sociology: intellectual women in the 18th and 19th centuries", "Affirmative Action: concept, debates and history" and author of the book "So far, so close: black and brown identities, discrimination and stereotypes in Brazil". Verônica é professora adjunta do Departamento de Sociologia e Metodologia em Ciências Sociais da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia (PPGS) da mesma instituição. É bolsista Jovem Cientista do Nosso Estado (FAPERJ). Doutora e mestre em Sociologia pelo Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Políticos (IESP-Uerj), foi bolsista de pós-doutorado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Antropologia (PPGSA, IFCS-UFRJ) e pesquisadora visitante no Instituto de Estudos Avançados de Princeton (IAS). Coordena o LabGen - Laboratório de Estudos de Gênero e Interseccionalidade (UFF), é pesquisadora associada do Global Race Project, da Agence National de la Recherche e membro da Heterodox Academy, instituição comprometida com a diversidade de pontos de vista, a liberdade de expressão e a discordância construtiva na pesquisa e educação. É coautora dos livros "Clássicas do Pensamento Social: Mulheres e feminismos no século XIX" e "Pioneiras da Sociologia: mulheres intelectuais nos séculos XVIII e XIX", "Ação Afirmativa: conceito, debates e história" e autora do livro "Tão longe, tão perto: identidades, discriminação e estereótipos de pretos e pardos no Brasil".
