Nico Ogink

Nico Ogink is research program leader and senior scientist of the Livestock Research institute of Wageningen UR, working within a team that investigates livestock and environment issues. His work can be characterized by the following items: program to develop and improve combined air scrubbers in animal production (2007-2011); program to develop new mitigation options for dust emissions from poultry and pig housings (2008 current); various research programs of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture on air quality in animal production (2006 - current ); involved in numerous projects aimed at developing mitigation options for emissions from livestock production. The majority of his work is published in scientific journals and conference papers.Nico Ogink is member of the advisory group of the Dutch Ministry of Environment and the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture for the evaluation of low emission housing systems in the Netherlands, advisor for both ministries on selecting BAT-options, member of the national Environmental Assessment committee, member of the national Health Advisory committee that will report on livestock production and public health, and involved in the international VERA-initiative, aimed at developing international measurement protocols for the assessment of ecological performances of livestock production systems within the EU. He is involved in exchanges with several research groups in Europe, the USA and Brazil.
