Marco Aurelio dos Santos Bernardes

Marco Aurelio dos Santos Bernardes, born in Ipatinga-MG, graduated in Mechanical Engineering - Bachelor - by CEFET-MG (1994), earned a Master of Mechanical Engineering Department of UFMG (1996), earned the title of Dr. -Ing. (Doctor) with full marks by the Institute of Stuttgart, Germany (2004), held a postdoc Institute in Stellenbosch, South Africa (2007) and a partial postdoc at the Centre Recherche Public Henri Tudor in Luxembourg (2011). His areas of expertise involve the Heat Transfer, Renewable Energy (Solar, Biofuels), Life Cycle Assessment, Energy and Environment, Energy Efficiency, Alternative Energy Assessment, CFD, CAD, CAE, 3D-Print, Design of Experiment,etc. He succeeds 13 papers published in prestigious international journals (Solar Energy, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment), twelve papers published in national and international conferences. He published two book chapters and acted as editor of five books, one on Heat Transfer and four on Biofuels. All these books and book chapters are open access. He was professor at CEFET-MG for 13 years (1997-2011) where he participated in projects involving research centers and institutes in the U.S., Germany and Portugal, established the center Indus - Technology Initiatives for Sustainable Development and headed the Department of Mechanical Engineering for four years. He was awarded with the international prize sponsored by UNEP / SETAC , namely, "The LCA Software Award" in 2007. He was selected to take part in the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change. He was awarded with a scholarship to attend training on in Japan (2008). It has a patent filled in the U.S., namely, Methods and Mechanisms for Semi Thermal Conduction. Solar Chimneys on the subject, is one of the most recognized researcher in the world. He is ad hoc reviewer of the Solar Energy Journal, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, International Journal of Energy Research and the Journal of Fluids Engineering and many conferences.

Marco Aurélio dos Santos Bernardes formou-se em Engenharia Mecânica pelo CEFET-MG (1994), obteve o título de mestre pelo Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica da UFMG (1996), o título de Dr.-Ing. (doutor) com nota máxima pela Universidade de Stuttgart, Alemanha (2004), realizou estágio pós-doutoral na Universidade de Stellenbosch, África do Sul (2007), no Centre Recherche Public Henri Tudor em Luxemburgo (2011) e na Universidade de Hamburg atuando como Pesquisador Sênior. Suas áreas de atuação envolvem Transferência de Calor, Energias alternativas (Energia Solar, Biocombustíveis), Avaliação do Ciclo de Vida, Energia e Meio Ambiente, Eficiência Energética, Avaliação de Alternativas Energéticas, CFD, CAD, CAE, Impressão 3D, Design of Experiment, etc. Possui 13 artigos publicados em periódicos de prestígio internacional (Solar Energy, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, Proceedings of the ASME - Heat Transfer Conference, International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, 30th International Thermal Conductivity), 17 artigos publicados em congressos nacionais e internacionais, dois capítulos de livros publicados e atuou como editor de cinco livros, um sobre Transferência de Calor e quatro sobre biocombustíveis. Essas publicações alcançaram 692 citações e índices h = i10 = 12. Foi professor no CEFET-MG por mais de 13 anos (1997-2011) onde participou de projetos envolvendo centros de pesquisas e Institutos dos EUA, Alemanha e Portugal, estabeleceu o núcleo InDuS - Iniciativas Tecnológicas para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável e chefiou o Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica por quatro anos. Foi agraciado com premiação internacional pela UNEP/SETAC (United Nations Environment Programme/Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) com o The LCA Software Award em 2007. Foi selecionado para participar do Painel Brasileiro de Mudanças Climáticas. Foi contemplado com bolsa de estudos para participar de treinamento sobre Eficiência Energética no Japão (2008). Possui uma patente registrada nos EUA. Sobre o tema Chaminés Solares, é um dos pesquisadores mais referenciados no mundo. É revisor e editor do Solar Energy Journal, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, International Journal of Energy Research e Journal of Fluids Engineering além de várias conferências e seminários. Foi professor adjunto na Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei atuando no Departamento de Térmicas e dos Fluidos.
