Miguel Angel Buelta Martinez

He holds a degree in Naval Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1974), a Master's in Naval and Ocean Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1977) and a PhD in Naval and Ocean Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1984). He is currently a professor at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. He has experience in Structural Engineering, with emphasis on Structural Mechanics, working mainly on the following subjects: design, submarine, flexible tubes and umbilicals for offshore oil production and experimental analysis. He was head of the Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Department from 2007 to 2011 and vice-head from January 2013 to January 2015. Since February 2021 he has been head of that Department.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Naval pela Universidade de São Paulo (1974), mestrado em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1977) e doutorado em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1984). Atualmente é professor titular do Departamento de Engenharia de Estruturas e Geotécnica da Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Estruturas, com ênfase em Mecânica das Estruturas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: projeto, submarino, tubos flexíveis e umbilicais para produção de petroleo no mar e análise experimental. Exerceu a chefia do Departamento de Engenharia de Estruturas e Geotécnica de 2007 a 2011 e a vice-chefia de janeiro de 2013 a janeiro de 2015. É desde fevereiro de 2021 chefe desse mesmo Departamento.
