Edmundo de Novaes Gomes

Graduated in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (1986), with a specialization in Journalism. He holds a Master's degree in Portuguese Language Literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas). His dissertation, defended in October 2006, is entitled "OEDIPUS - CASES OF A HETERODOXA READING". He is also a Doctor of Arts from the Graduate Program of the School of Fine Arts (EBA), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). His thesis, defended in July 2013, bears the following title: "POLITICAL THEATER IN BELO HORIZONTE: BETWEEN RESISTANCE AND PERSISTENCE". He is a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, where he headed the Department of Tourism and taught in the courses of Cinema and Audiovisual, Journalism, Publicity and Propaganda, Public Relations, Tourism, Pedagogy, History, Geography, Literature, Administration, Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering and Biology. He is also a member and partner of the Odeon Institute, of which he was a member until 2019. This institution is a private, non-profit cultural association, formed from the expansion of the Odeon Companhia Teatral, in Belo Horizonte. Qualified as a Social Organization (OS), the Odeon Institute became, in 2012, a partner of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall in the management of the Rio Art Museum (MAR); and, in 2017, partner of the São Paulo City Hall in the management of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo; in addition to being a consultant for several entities in the area of ​​cultural management and sustainability. He has experience in the areas of Communication (with emphasis on Theory and Writing of Journalism), Performing Arts (with emphasis on Dramaturgy and Theory), Cinema (with emphasis on Production, Direction and Screenwriting), Tourism (project development, communication and marketing ) and Cultural Production (acting mainly in theater, cinema, tourism, events and cultural projects). In 2017, his novel FALAR (NOVA PROVA, 2003), which for ten uninterrupted years was present on stage in a dramatic version, was adapted for the cinema in feature film format. He is also a professional journalist, fiction writer, playwright and screenwriter for film and TV.

É professor da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, onde chefiou o Departamento de Turismo e deu/dá aulas nos cursos de Cinema e Audiovisual, Jornalismo, Publicidade e Propaganda, Relações Públicas, Turismo, Pedagogia, História, Geografia, Letras, Administração, Engenharia Mecânica, Engenharia Civil e Biologia. Também é membro e parceiro do Instituto Odeon, de cujo conselho fez parte até 2019. Tal instituição é associação privada de caráter cultural, sem fins lucrativos, formada a partir da ampliação da Odeon Companhia Teatral, de Belo Horizonte. Qualificado como Organização Social (OS), o Instituto Odeon tornou-se, em 2012, parceiro da Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro na gestão do Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR); e, em 2017, parceiro da Prefeitura de São Paulo na gestão do Theatro Municipal de São Paulo; além de consultor de diversas entidades na área da gestão e sustentabilidade cultural. Possui experiência nas áreas de Comunicação (com ênfase em Teoria e Redação do Jornalismo), Artes-Cênicas (com ênfase em Dramaturgia e Teoria), Cinema (com ênfase em Produção, Direção e Roteirização), Turismo (desenvolvimento de projetos, comunicação e marketing) e Produção Cultural (atuando principalmente em teatro, cinema, turismo, eventos e projetos culturais). Em 2017, seu romance FALAR (NOVA PROVA, 2003), que por dez anos ininterruptos esteve presente nos palcos em versão dramática, foi adaptado para o cinema em formato de longa-metragem. É também jornalista profissional, ficcionista, dramaturgo e roteirista de cinema e TV.
