Marina Lipkin Vasquez

BS in Biotechnology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2004), Master in Neuro immunology at the Fluminense Federal University (2007), both in Brazil, and PhD in Molecular and Transnational Medicine at the Milano-Bicocca University (2011), in Italy. Worked at the Centro Ricerca M. Tettamanti, in Monza, Italy, and at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, USA (2007-2011), supported by CAPES fellowship. Developed her post-doctoral research (2012-2013) at the Molecular Biology Laboratory in the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center in the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (CEMO-INCA). Acted for 5 years (2014-2018) as Senior Researcher at the Neuropathology and Molecular Genetics Laboratory, technical coordinator of the Brain Tumor and Tissue Bank and vice-coordinator of the Ethics Committee at the Paulo Niemeyer Brain Institute from the Rio de Janeiro Secretary of Health. Acted as researcher at the Laboratory of Biological System Modeling in the Center of Technological Development in Health from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (CDTS/Fiocruz) in Rio de Janeiro (2019).Presently works as post-doctoral associate scientist at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, in Miami, FL, USA.Experienced in experimental medicine and clinical research, focused on molecular genetics, acting in immune-molecular analysis of tumors and nervous system pathologies, mainly Alzheimer Disease.

Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas - Modalidade Médica pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004), mestrado em Neuroimunologia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (2007), doutorado em Medicina Molecular e Translacional (DIMET) pela Universidade Milano-Bicocca (2011), com trabalho realizado no Centro Ricerca M.Tettamanti, em Monza na Italia e no Laboratorio do Comprehensive Cancer Center da Ohio State University, em Columbus, OH, EUA, financiado com bolsa de doutorado pleno da CAPES. Desenvolveu trabalho de pós-doutorado no Laboratório de Biologia Molecular do Centro de Transplantes de Medula Óssea do INCA (2012-2013). Participou da montagem da area de pesquisa e dos laboratorios de Neuropatologia e Genética Molecular, atuando por 5 anos (2013-2018) como pesquisadora, coordenadora técnica do Banco de Tumores e Tecidos e vice coordenadora do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa do Instituto Estadual do Cérebro Paulo Niemeyer da Secretaria de Saúde do Rio de Janeiro. Atuou com pesquisadora no Centro de Desenvolvimento Tecnológico em Saúde da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (CDTS- Fiocruz). Atualmente trabalha como pesquisadora associada no John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics da University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, em Miami, FL, EUA.Tem experiência na área de medicina experimental e pesquisa clinica, com ênfase em genética molecular, atuando principalmente em análise imuno-molecular de tumores e patologias do sistema nervoso, especialmente a Doenca de Alzheimer.
