Tiago dos Santos

Possui graduação em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade de Caxias do Sul (2010), mestrado (2012) e doutorado (2016) em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto A no Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Trabalha na área de mecânica dos sólidos computacional, com foco na modelagem constitutiva de materiais metálicos submetidos a carregamentos dinâmicos. Especificamente, Tiago dos Santos tem trabalhado na caracterização experimental de materiais metálicos submetidos a altas taxas de deformação e na formulação de modelos constitutivos viscoplásticos para a predição do comportamento desses materiais, considerando endurecimento induzido pela deformação e taxa de deformação, bem como efeitos viscosos. Durante 10 meses em período de doutorado sanduíche, Tiago esteve no Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa realizando testes experimentais em amostras de alumínio AA1050. Tiago dos Santos tem publicado artigos científicos em periódicos internacionais com índice JCR, como o International Journal of Plasticity, International Journal of Mechanical Engineering, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Mechanics of Materials, e International Journal of Numerical Methods in Engineering, International Journal of Impact Engineering, Acta Mechanica. Além disso, tem submetido trabalhos para congressos internacionais como o Ibero-Latin American Congress on Computational Methods in Engineering, frequentemente realizado no Brasil, e o International Conference on Computational Plasticity. Tiago realizou duas visitas técnicas à Universidad Carlos III de Madrid: de janeiro a fevereiro de 2019, de dezembro de 2019 a fevereiro de 2020. Tiago tem lecionado disciplinas na área de mecânica dos sólidos, como Fundamentos de Mecânica dos Sólidos, Integridade de Estruturas Mecânicas e Estruturas Aeronáuticas, para os cursos de graduação em Engenharia Aeroespacial, Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia de Telecomunicações. Além disso, Tiago é o atual coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Mecânica, onde ministrará disciplinas de Mecânica dos Sólidos; e Mecânica dos Sólidos Computacional. Tiago dos Santos é membro de dois grupos de pesquisa, Grupo de Sistemas Aeroespaciais e Controle; e Grupo de Tecnologia e Mecânica dos Materiais, ambos afiliados à UFSM. Tiago tem servido como revisor para o International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Applied Mechanics, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Journal of Testing and Evaluation e para o Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures.

Tiago dos Santos Graduated (2010) in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade de Caxias do Sul (Brazil) and obtained Masters (2012) and PhD (2016) in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). He works in the field of computational solid mechanics, focusing on the constitutive modelling of metallic materials subjected to dynamic loading. Specifically, he has been working on the high strain-rate experimental characterization of metallic materials and on the formulation of viscoplastic constitutive models to predict the strain-rate dependent behaviour of such materials, considering strain-rate hardening and instantaneous rate effects. Along 10 months during his PhD period, he has been working at the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon, conducting high velocity experimental tests on aluminium AA1050. Tiago dos Santos has published scientific articles in international journals indexed in the JCR, such as the International Journal of Plasticity, International Journal of Mechanical Engineering, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Mechanics of Materials, International Journal of Numerical Methods in Engineering, International Journal of Impact Engineering, Acta Mechanica. Furthermore, he has submitted 13 works, being the speaker 3 times, to scientific conferences, such as the Ibero-Latin American Congress on Computational Methods in Engineering (CILAMCE), International Symposium on Solid Mechanics (MECSOL), frequently held in Brazil, and the International Conference on Computational Plasticity (COMPLAS). Tiago has visited the University Carlos III of Madrid in two research stays: from January to February of 2019; from December of 2019 to February of 2020. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil. He has been teaching disciplines related to the solid mechanics field, such as Fundamentals of Solid Mechanics; Integrity of Mechanical Structures; and Aircraft Structures, in the Undergraduate Course of Aerospace Engineering. In addition, Dr. dos Santos is currently coordinating the recently approved Master Course on Mechanical Engineering at UFSM, where he will be teaching disciplines of Solid Mechanics; and Finite Element Analysis. He is currently member of two research groups, Control and Aerospace Systems Group; and Group of Technology and Mechanics of Materials, both affiliated with UFSM. Tiago dos Santos has served as reviewer for the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Applied Mechanics, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Journal of Testing and Evaluation, and for the Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures.
