I work as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, UK, where I study the behaviour, ecology and evolution of social insects. I'm particularly interested in the role of communication and learning in individual and collective decision-making, different forms of division of labour and colony organisation.
The main objectives are:
(1) Understand how bees and ants integrate multiple sources of information in their decision-making
(2) Understand variation among species in the degree of division of labour
(3) Uncover the molecular basis of foraging strategies
The main model species are the Western honeybee, stingless bees and ants.
