Felipe Viegas Rodrigues

Felipe Viegas Rodrigues is a cognitive neuroscientist and works at the intersection of education and neuroscience with the graduate program in education at University of Western São Paulo (Unoeste). His program of research focuses on attention, memory and learning processes, conducted as head of the Psychophysics Lab. Goals of this work include investigating: (1) the impact of mental functions on the teaching and learning processes, in particular executive functions; (2) the processes of memory retention, consolidation and recall; (3) attention orienting and executive control, including its asymmetries; and (4) self-regulated learning. He also investigates attentional changes linked to the development of specific skills (such as formal music education, or Music Cognition - Felipe is also a musician), and the impairments related to executive dysfunction. He has taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and his skills extend to programming in python, in the PsychoPy software use, to develop the laboratory's experimental protocols. Felipe also is a member of the research group "Construction of subjectivity processes in the school context" (CNPq). He holds a D.Sc. degree in Physiology from the University of São Paulo (USP) and is a biologist from unesp/Botucatu. Music is his greatest hobby that, luckily, he can enjoy while analyzing data.

Felipe Viegas Rodrigues é neurocientista cognitivo e trabalha na intersecção entre educação e neurociência junto ao programa de pós-graduação em Educação da Universidade do Oeste Paulista (Unoeste). Seu programa de pesquisa foca nos processos de atenção, memória e aprendizagem, conduzidos como investigador principal no Laboratório de Psicofísica. Os objetivos deste trabalho incluem investigar: (1) o impacto das funções mentais nos processos de ensino e aprendizagem, em especial as funções executivas; (2) os processos de retenção, consolidação e evocação da memória; (3) a orientação e o controle executivo da atenção, incluindo suas assimetrias; e (4) aprendizagem autorregulada. Ele também investiga alterações cognitivas provocadas pelo desenvolvimento de habilidades específicas (como a educação musical formal, ou Cognição musical - Felipe também é músico) e os prejuízos provocados por disfunções executivas. Ele ministra disciplinas nos níveis de graduação e pós-graduação da Unoeste e suas habilidades estendem-se à programação em python, no uso do software PsychoPy, utilizado para desenvolver os protocolos experimentais do laboratório. É integrante do grupo de pesquisa "Construção dos processos de subjetividade no contexto escolar" (CNPq). Ele é Doutor em Ciências (DSc) pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP) e biólogo pela unesp/Botucatu. Música é seu maior hobby que, felizmente, ele pode desfrutar enquanto analisa dados.
