Juan José de Damborenea González
MSc in Metallurgy (1980). PhD in Chemistry, (University Complutense Madrid, 1985). BSc in Welding (1985). At 1982 he joined at the Corrosion and Protection Department of the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC) where he has developed his scientific career. Research Fellow (1988) and Academic Visitor at Imperial Collage London. From 1996 to 2008 he was the Head of Corrosion and Protection of CENIM-CSIC. In 2007 he took on the editorial of Revista de Metalurgia (2007-2008). In 2008 was appointed Deputy Vice-President of CSIC (till 2012). He is currently Chairman of the Spanish Society of Materials, SOCIEMAT (2017) and he has been Executive Officer of The Federation of European Materials Societies, FEMS (2009-2013). Since 1983, he has published more than a hundred research papers in refereed Journals and conferences focused on basic aspects of corrosion and surface engineering as well as presentations in conferences, courses and congresses. He has a strong relationship with the Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica - FEM, Universidade Estadual de Campinas UNICAMP Campinas, with the research groups of BIOFABRIS and the the Solidification Laboratory of the Departamento de Engenharia de Manufatura e Materiais.
