Alvaro Ferraz Filho

He holds a degree in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1975), a Master's degree in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1976) and a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford (1980). He is currently Professor of the Department of Physics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and Director of the International Institute of Physics of UFRN. He has experience in the field of theoretical condensed matter, with emphasis on highly correlated electronic systems, acting mainly in the areas: high temperature superconductivity, quasi-one-dimensional systems, non-Fermi liquids, functional renormalization group, many bodies theory and the Mott transition.

Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1975), mestrado em Física pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1976) e doutorado em Física pela University of Oxford (1980). Atualmente é Professor Titular do Departamento de Física da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte e Diretor do Instituto Internacional de Física da UFRN. Tem experiência na área de física da matéria condensada teórica, com ênfase em sistemas eletrônicos fortemente correlacionados, atuando principalmente nas áreas: supercondutividade de alta temperatura, sistemas Quasi-unidimensionais, líquidos de não-Fermi, grupo de renormalização funcional, teoria de muitos corpos e a transição de Mott.
