Focuses her research in the following areas: System of cell intercommunication in pathogenesis plants (host plant reactions) and Symbiosystems. Pathogenic relationships between "Saccharum officinarum" and two pathogenic microorganisms: "Sporisorium scitamineum" and "Xanthomonas albilineans". Molecular defence of sugarcane to fungus and bacterial infection and physiological models in response to microorganism invasion: changes on phenylpropanoid metabolism, pattern of lignification and biosynthesis of some defence sugarcane glycoproteins. Elimination and reuse of polysaccharides from sugarcane juice as a method of optimizing the industrial production of sucrosa. Cellular-immobilized to carry out different biotransformations: production of phenolics compounds from lichens (the role of photobiont in the aromatic compounds), production of xanthan and oligofructans in a system "S. officinarum"-"X. albilineans". Collaborator associate of the "Cellular Interaction in Plant Symbiosis" (Ref. 910081), research group of the Complutense University (UCM), Spain and "Liquens: produtos bioactivos e monitoramento ambiental" (CNPq), Brazil.
