Luiz Artur Castanheira

Graduado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1983), mestrado em Análise e Modelagem de Sistemas Ambientais, pela UFMG (2010). Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Florestal e recursos naturais renováveis, com ênfase em unidades de conservação da natureza, de proteção integral e de desenvolvimento sustentável, desde a realização de estudos e levantamentos para a sua criação ao seu gerenciamento direto; elaboração de planos de manejo e de gestão, regularização fundiária, proteção, prevenção e combate a incêndios florestais. Experiência em planejamento participativo, com equipes multidisciplinares e da população local, na busca de alternativas de atividades econômicas (agropecuárias, florestais e de turismo) em zonas de amortecimento de unidades de proteção integral e nas unidades de uso sustentável. Experiência no uso de técnicas de geoprocessamento na análise e modelagem de sistemas ambientais, no monitoramento e análise temporal do uso e cobertura da terra, no planejamento territorial, no desenvolvimento de estratégias de controle e fiscalização ambiental. Experiência em reflorestamento com espécies nativas, para a recuperação de áreas degradadas ou afetadas por desastres ambientais, nas fases de plantio, acompanhamento da evolução das áreas reflorestadas e proposição de ações para melhoria dos processos e correção de eventuais falhas. Atualmente, interessado em desenvolvimento de soluções de aproveitamento econômico dos restos de vegetação e sobrantes de ações de limpezas, desbastes e exploração florestal, de modo a facilitar ações posteriores de manejo, reduzir o risco e a gravidade de incêndios e aumentar a resiliência das florestas, e assim, a produtividade, lucratividade e a continuidade dos negócios de base florestal, e dos serviços ambientais prestados pela floresta, bem como aumentar a segurança da população residente junto a ela e visitantes.

Experience in reforestation with native species, for the recovery of degraded areas or affected by environmental disasters, in the planting phases, monitoring the evolution of reforested areas and proposing actions to improve processes and correct eventual failures. Currently interested in developing solutions for economical use of the remains of vegetation and leftovers from cleaning, thinning and forest exploitation actions, in order to facilitate subsequent management actions, reduce the risk and severity of fires and increase the resilience of forests, and thus, productivity, profitability and the continuity of forest-based businesses, and of the environmental services provided by the forest, as well as increasing the safety of the resident population and visitors.
