He is a veterinary doctor graduated by the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) and has a PhD and postdoctorate in Immunology and Veterinary Microbiology by the University of León (ULE) - Spain. Recently he has spent a sabbatical year in the Dr. Schryver's Laboratory at the University of Calgary (Canada) working in Immunology and Structural Biology of Antigens. He teaches undergraduate courses in Veterinary Medicine Faculty and Medicine Faculty, as well as in the Graduate course of Bioexperimentation (Master and Doctorate) of UPF. He is also honorary international professor at theVeterinary Faculty of the ULE and International Correspondent Academic of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Castilla y León - Spain. In the research he works in the development of vaccines and diagnostic methods against pathogens of veterinary and human interest. In the veterinary line, his research addresses the swine immune system and its relationship with various pathogens, especially Glaesserella parasuis. In the human line, he studies the hepatitis E virus and its implication with hepatitis cases.
Possui graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade de Passo Fundo (Brasil) e doutorado em Imunologia Veterinária pela Universidade de León (Espanha). Pós-doutorado em imunologia pela University of Calgary. É Professor Titular nos cursos de Medicina Veterinária (disciplinas de Imunologia, Microbiologia, Doenças Infecto Contagiosas e Clínica Médica de Suíno) e Medicina Humana (Doenças Infecto Contagiosas e Imunologia) da Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF). Professor permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Bioexperimentação da UPF, Acadêmico Internacional da Academia de Ciências Veterinárias de Castilla e León (Espanha), e Diretor Executivo, de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento da AFK Imunotech. Desenvolve pesquisas na área de desenvolvimento de vacinas e métodos de diagnósticos de interesse veterinário e humano.
