Graduated in Medicine from the University of Sao Paulo (1999), with specialization/medical residency in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at HC-FMUSP (2000-03). PhD in Endocrinology from University College London, UK, with a Full Capes Scholarship (2007-11). Previously Research Fellow at the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health, University College London (2005-11), FAPESP Young Investigator (2012-2016), Attending Physician and Tenured Principal Investigator at the Division of Endocrinology, Hospital das Clínicas, FMUSP (2011-2022) and Coordinator of the Osteoporosis and Bone Health Center at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, São Paulo (2018-2022).
Interested in scientific communication, serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Archives of Endocrinology and Metabolism (publication of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabology), and Associate/Senior Editor for the Journal of the Endocrine Society (JES) and Endocrine Connections (joint publication of the European and British Societies of Endocrinology).
A leader in national and international scientific societies, he is Chair of the Publications Core Committee (2022-25) of the Endocrine Society. Previously, was a member of the Early Stage Investigator Subcommittee of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Metabolism (ASBMR, 2021-22), President of the Department of Basic Endocrinology (2021-22) and the Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (2021-22) of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology (SBEM), Scientific Director of the Brazilian Association for Bone Assessment and Osteometabolism (ABRASSO, 2019-21) and Chair of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (2019-22) of the Endocrine Society.
Areas of scientific interest: molecular diagnosis, molecular basis of bone and mineral metabolism, osteogenesis imperfecta, genetics of bone fragility and osteoporosis.
Recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the São Paulo cahpter of SBEM in 2017.
