Francisco Dyonísio Cardoso Mendes

Ethologist, with a Bachelor?s degree in Physical Anthropology from San Diego State University (1984), and with Master´s degree (1990) and PhD (1995) in Psychology from the University of São Paulo. Worked as a postdoc toral lecturer and researcher at the Department of Experimental Psychology - USP (1995-1997), and as ?professor titular? at the Department of Psychology ? Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás (1998- 2010). ?Professor adjunto? at the Institute of Psychology of the University of Brasília (UnB) since march of 2010. Previous research has focused on Animal Behavior and Cognition (e.g. tool use, human-monkey relationships, communication, behavioral ecology), with emphasis on ?naturalistic studies of behavior?, and on Evolutionary Psychology (e.g. agressiveness, food neophobia and reproductive strategies in humans). Current themes of research include the study of the vocal communication of neotropical primates and the behavior of urban monkeys.

Etólogo, possui graduação em Antropologia Física pela San Diego State University (1984), mestrado (1990) e doutorado (1995) em Psicologia pela Universidade de São Paulo. Atuou como bolsista Recém-Doutor no Departamento de Psicologia Experimental da USP (1995-1997), e como Professor Titular no Departamento de Psicologia da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás (1998- 2010). É Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Processos Psicológicos Básicos da Universidade de Brasília desde março de 2010. Pesquisas prévias investigaram temas sobre o Comportamento e Cognição Animal (e.g. uso de ferramentas, relações macacos-humanos, comunicação, ecologia comportamental), com ênfase em Estudos Naturalísticos do Comportamento, e sobre Psicologia Evolucionista (e.g. agressividade, neofobia alimentar e estratégias reprodutivas em humanos). Atualmente, realiza pesquisas sobre a comunicação vocal de primatas neotropicais e o comportamento de macacos urbanos.
