Marcus Vinicius da Silva Alves

MARCUS ALVES graduated from University of Brasília in 1984, with a degree in Forestry and holds a Ph.D. in Forest Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, in 1996. Environmental Analyst, he worked as a research scientist at the Forest Products Laboratory-LPF, from 1984 to 2009, where he served as its Chief for eleven years. He also served as Executive Manager of Forest Planning, Director of Strategic Planning, and from September 2011 until February 2019 served as Director of Forest Concession and Monitoring of the Brazilian Forest Service. From 2010 until 2015 he also served as Deputy Director-General of the Brazilian Forest Service.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade de Brasília (1984) e doutorado em Ciências Florestais pela University of Wisconsin - Madison (1996). Atualmente é Analista Ambiental do Serviço Florestal Brasileiro. Tem experiência na área de Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, com ênfase em Política, Economia, Manejo, Conservação e Tecnologia de Produtos Florestais.
