Rodrigo Xavier D Almeida

Rodrigo D'Almeida is an educator, researcher, regenerative designer and artist. At the Academy, he holds a master's degree from the Graduate Program in Sustainable Development Practices at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (2017). His research area is related to practices and collaborative methods capable of strengthening urban resilience in communities and schools located in areas of high socio-environmental risk. Already presented the themes of his research in national and international seminars.Professionally, he works as a consultant for humanitarian aid and disaster risk reduction for institutions such as C & A Institute, Save the Children, Instituto Fonte, Abrinq Foundation, among others. He has 4 years of experience in the public management of the city of Petrópolis, RJ, working on the construction of projects related to resilience and urban mobility and environment. During this period, he participated in municipal councils and regional committees with the same themes and was the representative of Petrópolis in the organizing committee of the III Meeting of Municipalities for Sustainable Development that gathered in Brasília approximately 10,000 managers from several Brazilian municipalities. As a Regenerative Designer trained by Gaia Education RJ, he uses methodologies such as the Pedagogy of Cooperation and Nonviolent Communication to build participatory, collaborative and exciting community projects that promote and strengthen people in their relationship with each other and with the world around them . Self-taught and intuitive permacultor, supports ecological school projects and focuses workshops with groups of public school teachers applying themes ranging from Emotional Intelligence to Empathic Listening.As an educator, he has taught Arts in the formal curriculum of several schools in Petrópolis-RJ. Over 10 years he has developed ecological and cooperative workshops for public and private school students. Today, as a volunteer, he coordinates workshops in Nonviolent Communication for groups of teachers and school principals in the municipality.As a plastic artist he has been working for 30 years developing a job that involves collecting dry natural objects from the parks floor and in the urban area. The tones, textures, shapes and contours of the earth are the inspiration and motivation of Rodrigo D'Almeida, who finds in dry natural elements his raw material of creation. Seeds, roots, twigs, barks and other fruits of the earth are tied and intertwined with ropes and cloth and clay, colored with natural and culturally arranged pigments. Thus, united and worked by art, these elements gain signs and senses; they become mosaics, plots, mandalas and sculptures that reproduce the natural movement of bodies. This work is based on an intuitive investigation of natural elements found in the environment in which the artist inserts himself. By principle, the material used is collected from the ground; never, therefore, torn from its origin. They are also collected in small quantities, respecting the natural cycle of that space. The artist has been developing his organic works, with varied themes and dimensions. He presented his work in galleries and cultural centers in Brazil and abroad.

Rodrigo D´Almeida é educador, pesquisador, designer regenerativo e artista plástico. Na Academia, é mestre pelo Programa de Pós Graduação em Práticas de Desenvolvimento Sustentável pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (2017). Sua área de pesquisa esta relacionada com práticas e métodos colaborativos capazes de fortalecer a resiliência urbana em comunidades e escolas localizadas em áreas de alto risco sócio ambiental. Neste período participou de conselhos municipais e comitês regionais com estas mesmas temáticas e foi representante de Petrópolis na comissão organizadora do III Encontro dos Municípios para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável que reuniu em Brasília aproximadamente 10.000 gestores de diversos municípios brasileiros.Como Designer Regenerativo formado pelo Gaia Education RJ, utiliza metodologias como a Pedagogia da Cooperação e a Comunicação Não Violenta para construir projetos comunitários participativos, colaborativos e excitantes que promovam e fortaleçam as pessoas na relação consigo, com ou outro e com o mundo que as rodeia. Permacultor autodidata e intuitivo, apoia projetos escolares ecológicos e focaliza workshops com grupos de professores de escolas públicas aplicando temas que vão da Inteligência Emocional a Escuta Empática.Como educador já lecionou Artes no currículo formal de diversas escolas em Petrópolis-RJ. Ao longo de 10 anos desenvolveu oficinas ecológicas e cooperativas para alunos de escolas públicas e privadas. Hoje, como voluntário, coordena workshops em Comunicação Não Violenta para grupos de professoras e diretoras em escolas no município. Como artista plástico vem a 30 anos desenvolvendo um trabalho que envolve a coleta de objetos naturais secos do chão de parques e na área urbana. Os tons, texturas, formas e contornos da terra são a inspiração e motivação de Rodrigo D'Almeida, que encontra em elementos secos naturais sua matéria prima de criação. Sementes,raízes, galhos, cascas e outros frutos da terra são amarrados e interseridos com cordas e tecidos e barro, coloridos com pigmentos naturais e culturalmente arranjados. Assim, unidos e trabalhadospela arte, estes elementos ganham sígnos e sentidos; transformam-se em mosaicos, tramas,mandalas e esculturas que reproduzem o movimento natural dos corpos. Este trabalho se baseia em uma investigação intuitiva de elementos naturais encontrados no meio ambiente em que o artista se insere. Por princípio, o material utilizado é coletado do chão; nunca, pois, arrancado de sua origem. São também coletados em pequenas quantidades, respeitando o ciclo natural daquele espaço. O artista desenvolve suas obras orgânicas,com temáticas e dimensões variadas. Apresentou seu trabalho em galerias e centro culturais no Brasil e no exterior.
