Carlos Eduardo Suprinyak

Associate Professor of Economics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Bachelor in Economics, Federal University of Paraná (2003); MA in Economics (with emphasis in Economic History), Unesp - São Paulo State University (2006); PhD in Economics, Cedeplar/Federal University of Minas Gerais. His main fields of interest are the history of economic thought and economic methodology, working mainly on the following subjects: pre-classical economic thought, history of monetary thought, and the institutionalization of the economics as an academic in Latin America. Visiting scholar at Goldsmiths College, University of London (2008-09), Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2017), University of Chicago (2017), Duke University (2018), and the Rockefeller Archive Center (2018). Winner of the 2017 Craufurd Goodwin Best Article in the History of Economics Prize, awarded by the History of Economics Society to the best article published in the field. Winner of the 2019 ESHET Young Researcher Award, given by the European Society for the History of Economic Thought for scholarly achievements of historians of economics at an early stage of their career. Co-editor of História Econômica & História de Empresas (2014-15), and chief editor of Nova Economia (2015-18). Currently co-editor of Research in the History of Economic Thought and Methodology (0743-4154). Co-producer of 'Smith and Marx Walk Into a Bar: a history of economics podcast'.

Professor Associado do Departamento de Ciências Econômicas da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Graduado em Ciências Econômicas pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2003), Mestre em Economia pela Unesp/FCLAr (2006), com ênfase em História Econômica, e Doutor em Economia pelo Cedeplar/UFMG (2010). Suas principais áreas de atuação são História do Pensamento Econômico e Metodologia da Economia, dedicando-se em especial aos seguintes temas: pensamento econômico pré-clássico, história do pensamento monetário e a institucionalização da economia como disciplina acadêmica na América Latina. Foi pesquisador visitante no Goldsmiths College, University of London (2008-09), na Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2017), na University of Chicago (2017), na Duke University (2018) e no Rockefeller Archive Center (2018). Em 2017, recebeu o Craufurd Goodwin Best Article in the History of Economics Prize, conferido pela History of Economics Society para o melhor artigo na área de história do pensamento econômico.
