Bárbara Coelho Rodrigues da Silva
Bárbara Silva (1977) é Arquiteta, editora e curadora independente. Graduada em Arquitetura pela Universidade de Coimbra (2003) com a tese: Design e Ideologia. Doutora em Teoria e Pratica de Projeto, pela Universidade Politécnica de Madrid (2016) com a tese: Brasil, la Reinvención de la Modernidad; Le Corbusier, Lucio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer. Especialização em Curadoria e Programação das Artes pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2014) e em Direção e Gestão de Revistas Culturais, pelo Instituto Superior de Arte de Madrid (2010). Lecionou na Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (2009-2010; 2012-2013); Escola da Cidade Arquitectura e Urbanismo de São Paulo (2011) e na Facoltá di Architettura di Alghero (2008). Desde 2010 é a Diretora da plataforma cultural NOTE (www.note.org.pt), que promove exposições, conferências, workshops e publicações no âmbito da arquitetura, arte e crítica. Atua na área de Teoria e Crítica de Arquitetura, História, Artes, Edição e Curadoria.
Bárbara Silva (Coimbra 1977) lives in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro. She is an architect, independent curator, editor and agent of cultural projects. Graduated in architecture (2003) from the Architectural Design Department, Faculty of Science and Technology - University of Coimbra, with the undergraduate thesis ?Design and Ideology?. She obtained a Postgraduate Course in Curating, Programming and Management of Arts (2014) from the Department of Human Sciences, Catholic University of Portugal. PhD in Project Theory & Practice(2016) from the Architectural Design Department, Polytechnic University of Madrid, with the dissertation "Brazil, the reinvention of modernity; Le Corbusier, Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer". The thesis analyzes how the rationalists principles, sown by Le Corbusier in Brazil, were interpreted by the Brazilian architects, and gave rise to the definition of a modern architecture of self-expression, able to overcome the limitations of rational forms. In addition to her research about self-expression on modern architecture, she focuses her work on exploring new ways of curating in architecture and in the continuous question of ?how to exhibit architecture?.In 2010 she founded NOTE (www.note.org.pt) - an independent cultural platform dedicated to the dissemination of architecture through exhibitions, conferences and publications. Since 2013 she is the artistic director of ?Architectural Season? in Boavista Gallery in Lisbon. The event has a duration of four months per year, involving exhibitions, conferences, workshops, debates and performances, based on the relationship between architecture and art.
