Mônica Dias Martins

Professor at UECE, coordinator of the research group Observatory of Nationalities and editor of the academic journal World Tensions. Graduated in Pedagogy from PUC-RJ, she completed a master's and doctorate in Sociology at UFC, being a fellow at CAPES-Fullbright at the University of California. Hers studies on social movements, agrarian reform, regional development and the environment were published in Argentina, Brazil, USA and Mexico. In the area of Political Science, her interests are the relations between internationalism and nationalism, with emphasis on the performance of multilateral organizations. Among her recent research activities are the role of the World Bank in Latin America, the links of this institution with the military strategies of the major powers, the formation of African nationalities, the idea of nation among different social actors developed in cooperation with the National University of Southern Patagonia (UNPA) and the joint research Literature, nationalities and colonialism: social cartography of the imagined communities of Brazil, Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau held with teachers from UECE and UNILAB. Professora da UECE, coordenadora do grupo de pesquisa Observatório das Nacionalidades e editora da revista acadêmica Tensões Mundiais. Formada em Pedagogia pela PUC-RJ, concluiu mestrado e doutorado em Sociologia na UFC, sendo bolsista da CAPES-Fullbright na Universidade da Califórnia. Seus estudos sobre movimentos sociais, reforma agrária, desenvolvimento regional e meio ambiente foram publicados na Argentina, Brasil, EUA e México. Na área de Ciência Política, seu interesse volta-se para as relações entre o internacionalismo e o nacionalismo, com ênfase na atuação dos organismos multilaterais. Dentre as atividades recentes de pesquisa destacam-se: o papel do Banco Mundial na América Latina, os vínculos desta instituição com as estratégias militares das grandes potências, a formação das nacionalidades africanas, a ideia de nação entre diferentes atores sociais, trabalho desenvolvido em cooperação com a Universidade Nacional da Patagônia Austral (UNPA), a investigação Literaturas, nacionalidades e colonialismos: cartografia social das comunidades imaginadas de Brasil, Cabo verde e Guiné-Bissau, realizada com professores da UECE e UNILAB .
